Emma Marie Frauenholz is a versatile percussionist based in Vienna, whose musical journey began with a strong classical foundation and has evolved into a broad artistic spectrum spanning orchestral music, contemporary works, film scoring, and world percussion. Born and raised in Mödling, Austria, Emma is now active on an international level, collaborating with artists and ensembles across a wide range of musical styles. Alongside her classical training, she has spent many years deeply exploring global rhythmic traditions. She studies Indian rhythm and tabla with Haider Khan Gorou and has further developed her Latin percussion skills with Ismael Barrios, among others. This ongoing engagement with diverse rhythmic cultures plays a defining role in her artistic identity and is reflected in both her solo work and her performances as an orchestral and studio musician. In recent years, Emma has regularly performed with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. At the same time, she has established herself as a freelance artist, touring internationally across Europe, Africa, and Asia, including performances in China, Japan, Taiwan, Abu Dhabi, and beyond. A significant focus of her work lies in the studio: As a member of Synchron Stage Vienna, she has contributed to major film productions, including projects for Marvel, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones. She also took part in the production of the World Percussion Library 2 by Vienna Symphonic Library, bringing her expertise in world percussion into a globally recognized sample library. Additional projects include video productions for the Vienna Energy Forum (UNIDO) and collaborations with the Nitsch Foundation. Her career highlights include performing at the opening of the European Capital of Culture 2024 in Bad Ischl, a solo concert in Oberschützen, appearances at the Kirchklang Festival, and a collaboration with Lang Lang for his Disney project in 2024 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Alongside her concert and studio work, Emma also teaches and shares her knowledge with others. Currently, her artistic focus is on solo projects in the field of world percussion, as well as arranging and composing her own music. At the same time, she is building her own home recording studio to bring her creative ideas to life more independently. Emma has been playing Schlagwerk instruments since 2015 and has owned her own Schlagwerk cajón since 2017. She particularly values the combination of traditional craftsmanship, innovative design, and the powerful, natural sound of the instruments. As an artist, Emma Marie Frauenholz represents openness, curiosity, and the connection of musical cultures. Her goal is to make this diversity tangible in her work and to explore new sonic possibilities.
