Claudio Spieler
Claudio Spieler is a versatile Austrian percussionist, particularly stylistically confident with the cajón, kanjira and konnakol. He tours and performs in theaters and at festivals from Havana to Reykjavik and he is a popular guest lecturer at drum camps and music institutions throughout Europe. After his concert diploma with distinction in classical percussion and his eight years as a master student of Hakim Ludin, he now studies with Kanjira master Selvaganesh Vinayakram. He can be heard on stage as a soloist and in several international projects. His specialties include South Indian and Afro-Cuban music, flamenco and interactive children's concerts. Claudio's playing style is described as subtle, humorous, imaginative and above all virtuosic - always radiating the pure joy of making music. In spring 2022, Claudio's first textbook “TALADIDDLE” on the subject of “Konnakol meets Rudimental Drumming” was published by AlfredMusic in collaboration with Claus Hessler. In summer 2023 Claudio toured with Martin Grubinger and the Percussive Planet Ensemble and released an album with the Austrian Syndicate on ActMusic.
