Hilko Schomerus

Hilko Schomerus is a versatile musician and lecturer who teaches at the prestigious universities of music in Cologne and Hanover and is also a guest lecturer at the Bundesakademie Remscheid. In addition to his teaching activities, he has built up a wealth of experience in the areas of music production, touring and concert accompaniment and has worked with well-known artists and bands. He has been involved in CD productions, European tours and live performances by international stars such as Randy Crawford, Quincy Jones, Phil Collins and DJ Bobo and has toured with the 'Soulounge' to accompany artists such as Roachford, Hiram Bullock and Johannes Oerding. Schomerus has also been involved in productions with the NDR Big Band, the Bundespresseball Big Band and the NDR Pops Orchestra and has played with well-known acts such as Echt, Fury in the Slaughterhouse, Cultured Pearls and Inga Rumpf at concerts and productions. Schomerus is also active in the field of film music: his contribution to the soundtrack of Mongol - The Life of Genghis Khan, which was nominated for an Oscar in the “Best Foreign Film” category, is particularly noteworthy. In addition to his artistic engagements, Schomerus is also known as an author of educational works. His publications include “Percussion for Beginners” and “Modern Percussion”, which teach valuable basics and techniques.
