Lider Chang

Lider Chang - Principal Timpanist, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra Lider holds dual master's degrees in Economics (NYU) and Percussion Performance (Carnegie Mellon). He has served as guest principal timpanist with various orchestras, including the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Hangzhou Philharmonic, and Macau Orchestra. As a soloist, Chang has performed several premieres, including Michael Daugherty’s „Raise the Roof“, David Mancini’s jazz drum concerto, and Alex Orfaly’s „Rhapsody No. 2“. He frequently leads masterclasses in cities such as Taipei, Shanghai, and Seoul, and serves as a jury member for international percussion competitions. In 2020, he co-produced the online course „Introduction to Orchestral Percussion“ in collaboration with the Beijing Music Festival. In 2024, Chang released his percussion album „Pause & Play“ through Pacific Classical Records, available globally.
