Tom Cebulla

Drummer / Drum teacher

Nearly four years ago, I decided to turn my passion into a profession and have since been working with great dedication as both a drummer and drum teacher. Alongside several jobs as a session drummer, I have taught weekly at multiple music schools over the past four years, and for about a year now also in a private capacity. As a drummer, I mainly focus on genres such as German pop, rock, and indie. In recent years, I have primarily performed in cover bands, both as a permanent member in my own projects and as a sideman for other groups. My cajon set has been a defining element of the acoustic cover band Plan B & Friends, shaping our unique stage sound at every performance. In addition, I completed a 20-month Professional Program in 2021, attended several training seminars and drum workshops, and participated in the renowned Popkurs in Hamburg earlier this year. Looking ahead, I am about to begin my “Popular Music – Drums” studies in Hanover, marking the start of an exciting new chapter where I aim to collaborate more with young pop artists alongside my work in the cover scene. My journey with Schlagwerk instruments began back in December 2015, when I received my first cajon as a Christmas gift. It quickly became a key part of my musical path: through street performances, I soon found myself playing paid gigs for private clients and event organizers. Over the years, my setup has grown steadily, with Schlagwerk instruments forming the backbone of my collection. Schlagwerk has always inspired me with its diversity, creativity, and quality. My cajon setup, which I play in a drum-like manner, allows me to create an acoustic, percussive, yet realistic sound on stage—a sound and look that never fails to spark curiosity and conversation among audiences. This uniqueness is the reason I keep choosing Schlagwerk again and again. One of the absolute highlights of my career so far has been taking part in the Popkurs in Hamburg, where I had the chance to learn from outstanding lecturers, connect with many fellow musicians, and gain invaluable experience. Over the next two years, I hope to work more with pop artists, contribute to their music with my drumming, go on tour, and perform in exciting venues. On top of that, I aim to grow my online presence, with the goal of reaching 10,000 followers on Instagram.
