Planetary

All planets in our solar system move in specific rotations and orbits. These cyclical movements generate vibrations that are inaudible to us. The duration of an oscillation can be calculated exactly for each planet in Hertz (oscillations per second).

In order to make these low frequencies of planets audible to the human ear, the Swiss mathematician and natural scientist Hans Cousto developed the method of frequency doubling in the 1970s. This involves transposing the vibrations of the planets into higher octaves by repeatedly doubling the frequency until they are perceptible to us. These tones, known as octave-analog frequencies, are also referred to as part of the “cosmic octave”.

This process makes the universe audible to us and the unique properties of the planetary tones can be used in a variety of ways.
