Asadali Pyarali Bandeali
Percussionist from Washington, D.C.
Asadali Pyarali Bandeali is a DC-based percussionist whose experimental work draws from Islamic aesthetic sensibilities, Middle Eastern dynamism, and South Indian rhythmic complexity. He grew up in Texas, where he developed his foundation in marching and orchestral percussion, becoming a three-time Texas All-State musician and touring with Drum Corps International’s Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps during their world championship season. His work has taken him to live in Turkey, France, South Africa, Ghana, and Pakistan, and includes performances with Moslem Alipour, Charlottesville Symphony, Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Washington Revels, Washington, DC embassies, and Silkroad Ensemble’s Global Musician Workshop at New England Conservatory. He has scored music for short films, including Conference of the Moths, which is being screened at festivals in the U.S., South Africa, Tanzania, Indonesia, and India. Outside of music, Asadali is a senior policy analyst at the U.S. central bank and a model with The Artist Agency. He holds an MBA from Yale University. Asadali values Schlagwerk’s commitment to craftsmanship, sound quality, and inventive design, as well as their commitment to accessibility for musicians of varying physical abilities.
