As a cajon specialist, Xie Dazhi fuses Asian rhythmic tradition with German engineering precision, creating a distinctive and personal playing style. For over 15 years, he has been active as a composer of original pop, rock, and funk pieces, while also reaching a broad audience through his creative cover versions—garnering an average of over 50,000 views per video. In 2022, he founded the T-Mu Studio to further develop and professionalize his musical vision. Key Achievements Throughout his musical career, Xie has received numerous awards and notable performance opportunities. With the HeartDoor Band, he won the prestigious Fujian Provincial Band Competition. He has also performed at high-profile events such as the Golden Rooster Film Festival and the Gulangyu Music Festival. From 2019 to 2023, he was a full-time percussionist with the Deep Blue Choir, where he showcased his skills in a professional ensemble setting. Teaching Qualifications Xie is also deeply committed to music education. He was invited as a guest instructor at the Osaka Percussion Festival in Japan, gaining valuable international teaching experience. As a mentor, he has guided many young musicians—over 15 of his students have won first place in provincial competitions. His solid educational background includes a certificate from the renowned Collective School of Music in New York City. Currently, Xie is actively involved in several performance projects. He performs regularly as the lead percussionist for the HeartDoor Band and appears as a guest artist with the Weekend Travel Band. As part of his own cover music initiative, he releases weekly interpretations of popular pop and rock songs and tours with this program across clubs and festival stages. At his T-Mu Studio, founded in 2022, he also produces live showcases featuring over 150 students and leads a hybrid performance series that takes place both online and in-person.
