About Christoph

Christoph Haas grew up with classical European music and studied in West Africa, Latin America and South India. He studied frame drums with Glen Velez (USA), Samir Essahbi (Morocco), T. R. Sundaresan and P. Nandakumar (India). Using a wide range of instruments, he creates a variety of luminous sounds with traditional and innovative playing techniques. His compositions build bridges between Orient and Occident, old and new music. They are characterized by multi-layered polyrhythms in often odd meters and a differentiated use of timbres and overtones.
